Disclosure of Information to Others

NWPA will not disclose to third parties your personal information, combined personal and demographic information or information about your use of the web site (such as the areas you visit or the services you access), except as set out below.

1. NWPA may disclose such information to companies and individuals NWPA may employ to perform functions on our behalf including data processors. The functions performed on our behalf may include hosting our web servers, analysing data, providing marketing assistance, processing credit card payments and customer service. These companies and individuals will have access to your personal information as necessary to perform their functions, but they may not share that information with any other third party or use that data for any other purpose. NWPA will retain control of and be responsible for any information shared in this way.

2. NWPA may disclose such information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity or regulatory authority or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of NWPA; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.

3. NWPA may disclose and transfer such information to a third party who acquires all or a substantial portion of NWPA’s business, whether such acquisition is by way of merger, consolidation or purchase of all or a substantial portion of our assets. In addition, in the event NWPA becomes the subject of an insolvency proceeding, whether voluntary or involuntary, NWPA or its liquidator, administrator, receiver or administrative receiver may sell, license or otherwise dispose of such information in a transaction approved by the court. You will be notified of sale of all or a substantial portion of our business to a third party by email or through a prominent notice posted on the NWPA site.

Posting to Public Areas of NWPA

Please remember that if you post any of your personal information in public areas of NWPA, e.g. in the searchable database, such information may be collected and used by others over whom NWPA has no control. NWPA are not responsible for the use made by third parties of information you post or otherwise make available in public areas of NWPA.

Your Rights

You may instruct NWPA to provide you with any personal information we hold about you. Provision of such information may be subject to a payment fee currently fixed at £10.

Security

NWPA has implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorised access, use, alteration or disclosure. In particular, all account and password data is encrypted (i.e. it is scrambled between your computer and NWPAs’ servers) and all traffic which is internal to the NWPA network (such as access to our database) is also encrypted. Notwithstanding such measures, the Internet is an open system and we cannot guarantee that unauthorised third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your personal information for improper purposes.

Cookies

NWPA uses “cookies” to help personalise and maximise your online experience and time online. A cookie is a text file that is either stored in your computer’s memory temporarily (a “session” cookie) or placed on your hard drive (a “persistent” cookie) by a web page server. Cookies are not used to run programmes or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you and your computer and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page. When you return to the NWPA site, cookies enable us to retrieve the information you previously provided, so you can easily use the features that you customised. For example, if you personalise NWPA pages, or register for services, a cookie helps us to recall your specific information (such as user name, password and preferences).

In addition, third party advertisers on the web site may use “cookies”. NWPA has no control over, and is not responsible for, the practices of those third party advertisers. NWPA encourages you to review the policies of such advertisers.

Although you may configure your browser not to accept cookies, you will find the website functionality impaired if you do so.

Use of Web Beacons

NWPA web pages may contain electronic images known as web beacons (sometimes called single-pixel gifs) that allow us to count users who have visited those pages and to deliver co-branded services. Web beacons are not used to access your personally identifiable information on NWPA; they are a technique we use to compile aggregated statistics about our web site usage.

Web beacons collect only a limited set of information including a cookie number, time and date of a page view, and a description of the page on which the web beacon resides.

Because web beacons are the same as any other content request included in the recipe page, you cannot opt out or refuse them. However, they can be rendered ineffective by either opting out of cookies or changing the cookie setup in your browser.
Third parties are not permitted to use web beacons on the NWPA sites.

Accuracy

If you ever have any questions about the accuracy of your personal information at NWPA please email us on [email protected] so that we can investigate your query.

Please try to keep your information as up to date as possible. Doing so will help us to help you get the maximum benefit from NWPA. In particular, please make sure that you inform us of any changes to your e-mail address as this is the most important way for us to contact you and send reminders.
