Provide general support: assistance with cooking and cleaning; assistance with shopping; accompany on outings and other visits; support for other interests/hobbies e.g walking, gardening.
car owner/driver essential - experienced driver with clean licence; non-smoker; enhanced DBS required; experienced care worker; flexible attitude to work in order to provide cover for holidays/sickness; must be reliable and punctual; must be committed to a client-centred approach; must be tolerant, patient and fully aware of the employer/employee relationship
The successful applicant(s) will form part of an existing team. It might be possible to split the role. The employer is a young man in his thirties who has moderate learning difficulties and is on the autistic spectrum. In addition to the above the applicant(s) will understand that the role involves assisting the employer to lead as full and as independent a life as practicable. The successful applicant(s) will not lead the employer, but may offer guidance if they genuinely feel that a course of action proposed by the employer is not in his best interests; at all times this must be done respectfully and on an adult to adult basis.
