About me

For the past 13 years I have been working as a support worker in both supported living and day services for adults with learning disabilities ranging from mild to PMLD.

During my time in this area of work I have learnt how to handle various medical and operational
situations professionally and efficiently using my own knowledge and any available resources.

I am CRB cleared in my current role and would be willing to undergo a CRB renewal should it be required. I hold numerous relevant certificates that are applicable to the role of PA.

I also possess a helpful attitude, good team and solo working skills and am prepared to put in that extra effort which makes all of the difference.

I feel that my experience in my personal life also carries significant relevance to the role of PA as I had a son who lived with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and for the first 18 years of his life I was his full time carer alongside my professional roles. Having a son with a disability such as Duchenne meant that I very quickly learned to adapt and
understand new ways of living and medical needs. I supported Adam to live as confidently as possible, so much so that before his passing he was able to live happily and independently for a number of years.
