About me

I’m Emma, I’m 30 and I have worked as a support worker for the last six years. I trained as a support worker after volunteering to provide companionship to the daughter of a family friend in my free time. She was of a similar age to myself and had autism. Eventually, I became her PA and carried on supporting her when she moved out of the family home in to supported living, Since then, I’ve gained experience as a support worker, and worked in several homes- whether it be in a person’s own home, living with their family, or in a supported living setting. I worked my way up to a Deputy Manager position, before realising how much I missed supporting and caring for people, and I’m looking to get back to it again. I have a Care certificate and I’m working towards my NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.

I have experience of supporting children and adults with autism, dementia, mental health conditions, downs syndrome, learning disabilities, drug addiction, cerebal palsy, acquired brain injuries and long term health conditions, or simply providing companionship where needed. I have training in administering medication, first aid, autism and sensory needs, manual handling, trauma informed care, hoists, PEG feeding, Stoma Care. I am confident providing personal care whilst promoting a persons dignity, and think it’s very important to promote a persons independence, to increase their confidence and quality of life.

I’m a good cook, but not so good a baker. I am chatty, love animals (I have 3 dogs) and run half marathons in my spare time! I have business use on my car, and I’m happy to take individuals out in it, if they are happy to do so. I’m also confident driving mobility vehicles, and do so regularly in my current role (think a 12 seater minibus!) I have good knowledge of local community groups and activities, as well as things to do in the local area. I’m happy to cook, clean, provide support wherever needed, or just be a listening ear.

Working as a PA/ Support Worker is the best thing I’ve ever done, and its been a privilege to build relationships and trust with the people I’ve cared for over the years.

I’m happy to answer any questions, chat on the phone or meet informally to get to know me a little better.

My current availability is:
Monday all day,
Tuesday until 4pm
Thursday until 4pm
Friday all day.

There is room for flexibility where required, and I can provide support on infrequent weekends, as long it doesn’t clash with one of my (many) running races.

I do not smoke (or vape).
