    As a personal assistant, I have exerted my personal values through my employment.

    Provide one-on-one support to an individual with autism, dyspraxia, and depression, tailoring care to meet their unique needs and preferences.

    Assist them with daily living activities, including personal care such as changing their bed, teaching them how to cook, help develop their independence with cleaning ensuring safety and comfort.

    Support with social interactions and communication, using clear, structured methods to reduce anxiety and promote confidence.

    Offer emotional support and reassurance, using coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms.

    Monitor mood, behaviour, and overall wellbeing, reporting any significant changes to their close-knit community and relevant support team.

    Encourage and support participation in social and community activities, promoting social inclusion.

    Maintain the confidentiality and always respecting the privacy and dignity of my client, following all safeguarding protocols.

    Develop a good rapport and have created a trusting, supportive relationship to make sure my client feels comfortable and empowered in their daily activities.

    In my time at Mcdonald’s I learned how to keep calm in a fast paced environment, exert my flexibility

    (long hours, late hours) and gain customer experience.

    • Maintained a quick service, especially during busy times with a high standard

    • Took orders from customers and input their selections into the restaurant’s computer systems

    • Assembled orders on trays or in bags depending on the type of order

    In Poundland, as my role of a sales assistant, I was presented with a number of responsibilities, such as:

    Arranging and labelling goods in the display shelves

    • Processing customer payments at the checkout point/till

    • Addressing customer complaints and inquiries

    • Providing shopping advice and recommendations to customers

    • Cleaning and rearranging the store after hours

    • Collaborating with other team members to keep the sales floor area clean and organised at all times

    While I have not received formal training in autism support, I have gained valuable hands-on experience working closely with a client with autism. This experience has allowed me to develop a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals on the autism spectrum.

    I have supported an individual with autism in daily activities, such as communication, social interaction, and navigating challenging environments, tailoring my approach to their needs and preferences.

    Self-Learning and Adaptability:

    I have actively sought out resources and best practices through research, online courses, and advice from professionals to better understand autism and develop my skills.

    Effective Communication:

    I have learned how to use clear, consistent communication techniques, visual supports, and structured routines to reduce anxiety and promote positive outcomes.

    While I may not have formal training, my practical experience and commitment to learning have allowed me to effectively support individuals with autism, making positive, supportive, and empowering relationships.
