Hi Leanne,
I am a 20 year-old woman and would love to get to know a little more about M! Reading your profile it seems to be an ideal fit, the way you’ve talked about your son is just lovely and I hope I am lucky enough to meet them. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself, my family life, my work-life and my interests:
At home, I have a 28 year-old sister who was (lately, 2020) diagnosed with ADHD. I have come to recognise her disability and have always been helpful with any emotional and practical problems I can help with. I myself have been diagnosed with AuDHD (2022), which has been challenging but I have come to nurture my condition and have noticed I hold connections with people I meet on the neurodivergent spectrum. I am quite a sociable person, I have many friends with good, steady relationships. I initially found it hard to be the person I am today, but I have found strategies and clues in order to be able to do things people my age do. I love going out with my friends, I enjoy going out drinking (on occasion), shopping, a slight interest in gaming, bowling, you name it and I probably enjoy it!
I am currently a personal assistant to a 60 year-old individual with autism, dyspraxia and depression. I have worked with him for about 6 months which doesn’t sound like a long time but we have built up such a lovely, non-judgemental, supportive relationship. We have developed independence, money managing strategies and my client’s social life to the point where they are able to complete tasks such as shopping and community activities (in the supported living home) by themselves. My client also enjoys a little drink themselves, and we have attended bars together for drinks. We have also put a budget in place, and my client has agreed to a ‘danger zone’ (a balance in my client’s account that is starting to dip low) and will inform me with no judgement, when my client’s finances are not looking the way we want them to. We will talk this through in a supportive manner and work out why the money is spent and how we can curb it in the future.
I would love to help develop M’s independence, money managing strategies and social life by supporting M with different leisurely activities such as bowling, the cinema, bars, gaming shops and anything M desires.
In my spare time I enjoy a little bit of gaming, but I am only slowly learning the ropes! I’m normally interested in simulation games such as Sims 4 but I am slowly moving towards FPS (First Person Shooter) games such as Call Of Duty, I am currently working my way up through the ranks on Zombies in COD, I am very poor as I am only just starting out. I used to play GTA V but soon got bored of it as everyone else around me had moved on from that game. When I was younger I was obsessed with Minecraft, I would spend endless hours on that game but as I’ve grown older, I’m not really too interested in it. I would love to get to know what kind of games M is interested in as I would love to build up some knowledge on different gaming techniques and try different games.
If possible, I would like to know more about M’s reading development status, I have a learning disability myself and have learned quite a few strategies to reading and being able to read in a way that suits me.
Thank you for reading my message!
Jasmine
